Happy birthday to us – 35 years and getting stronger!

I’m proud to say that today marks a landmark anniversary for Cromwell Polythene – it’s our 35th anniversary – happy birthday to us! Since the company formed on 1 October 1983, it was initially a long, slow burn but, after years of hard work and dedication, our independent, family run business is now thriving.

We’ll be marking the occasion with a special event to thank our staff. Our success has much to do with the commitment, dedication and talent of our hardworking team – with a number of them recently celebrating 10 or 20 year anniversaries with us. In a smaller company environment staff become part of your extended family too. They certainly buy into the company’s vision, values and priorities.

Thank you to our customers and suppliers

We’d also like to thank all our customers and suppliers who recognise the importance of resource efficiency and know that we are a reliable business partner. Used responsibly, plastic can save resources, but it is vital that re-usability, recycled content, and recyclability be designed into plastics, and unnecessary waste designed out. We are a company whose word stands for something and whose quality-assured products are sustainably sourced and supplied. The goal is that our products are not only lower cost to our customers, but also to the environment.

Our mission is to be the most resourceful company in plastics, supplying products that help make the world cleaner, greener, and more economical.  Plastic materials are used widely across many industries, adding value and efficiencies to the supply chain – weighing less than alternatives like glass and metal.

Plastic has many benefits – one example is in the food sector, where plastic packaging helps with hygiene measures and extends shelf life, minimising food waste. Polythene food grade bags help the hospitality sector improve portion control and storage of food to avoid spoilage. In the cleaning and janitorial sector using plastic waste sacks and bags makes it simple, safe, and hygienic to separate and collect waste effectively, for appropriate disposal or recycling.

Onwards and upwards

During our anniversary year we’ll be in a new workspace, following a period of significant development. In spring 2019, we’re set to move into a bespoke facility in the pioneering ‘Sherburn2’ 75-acre business park at Sherburn-in-Elmet, near Leeds. A 50,000 sq ft distribution warehouse, featuring smart wrap-around offices, which will create a contemporary and welcoming business hub for Cromwell’s customers, suppliers and staff.

We look forward to continuing to work successfully with our valued customers, staff and suppliers, helping people to be more resourceful – cheers to that!
