We hope you are all having a great start to 2019. It’s an exciting year for us as we celebrate our 35th anniversary and continue to develop in order to bring you innovative, quality products that help you to capture and contain valuable resources, and dispose of residual waste safely and cleanly.
Firstly, you may have noticed that we have a new look website and we hope you like the fresh new feel. The content and layout are designed to make it easier to guide you through our extensive portfolio. On our home page we’ve included links to a number of videos we’ve created to help you choose the best fit-for-purpose product, available via our YouTube Channel.
Later this year, we’ll be moving to a new site with purpose-built warehouses and offices, following a period of significant development. The bespoke facility at Sherburn2, a new 75-acre business park near Leeds, will provide a welcoming hub for our customers, staff and suppliers.
We’re proud to be a successful family-run business. My wife Debbie is a fellow director and two of my sons, Henry and Angus, have been part of the 37-strong Cromwell Polythene team for some time, in the roles of Business Development Manager and Office Manager respectively. Now I’m delighted that my other son, Alex Lee has joined the company as a Sales Executive.
Alex will work alongside the rest of the sales team and will also manage the development of our free polythene recovery service, which returns clean polythene packaging to the production cycle. Used polythene is collected from our customers on a back-load basis, for recycling. This keeps the resource in the economy and saves virgin materials in line with the principles of the circular economy and reducing landfill. Benefits for customers include reduction of waste disposal costs and regular reporting of packaging returns for recycling. Customers with larger volumes of used packaging are paid for their baled polythene film.
In March this year we’re delighted to be returning to the Cleaning Show where we’ll be launching a re-designed version of our Wave® range of disposable gloves. Visitors to Stand C27 will be able to sample the versatile gloves which have new, eye-catching packaging and a fresh logo that better promotes the products’ environmental and performance credentials.
The quality gloves are suitable for most cleaning applications and are food safe, which means they are highly effective for sanitising requirements within food contact areas. The personal protective equipment (PPE) is both latex and powder free, helping to minimise the occurrence of skin irritation. They provide the comfort and performance attributes of latex, without the potential allergy issues, and at a lower cost.
We’ll be at a number of other events through the year including RWM, the UK’s largest recycling and waste management exhibition, in September and look forward to seeing many of you there. As always, we’ll also be getting involved in key recycling awareness weeks including Recycle Week, the annual Great British Beach Clean and World Cleanup Day.
There’s plenty more to come this year in terms of product and service developments and events, so keep an eye on my diary throughout the year for more exciting updates!
